Masterful insight and analysis.

“An amazing ecosystem bootstrapped out of nothing more than Epstein’s charm and his amoral shamelessness.” But no green light at the end of any dock !

“IQ is one thing. Conscientiousness, disagreeableness, emotional stability—those things matter as well. “

Brings to mind the distinction between speed and velocity. IQ is not a virtue but it can be directed by the other three factors.

You might acknowledge someone’s intelligence but how they employ it is more important.

Super interesting, I am digesting. I did some checks on things, stuff like this totally real: EFTA02731420

"But some will cross the line in seeking to be near the beau monde." Dershowitz, Pinker, Summers. Not surprising.

Kind of OT, but Epstein could have purchased a private island in the British Virgin Islands (it is literally a few miles away). The age of consent in Britain VI is 16 instead of 18 in US. Wonder if he had that in mind when planning his operations.

To his credit, Pinker bailed after Epstein was convicted (as did Trump & quite a few other people). The others, unfortunately, did not—despite the “Pseuds’ Corner” vibe that Epstein gave off (which multiple people also seem to have noticed).

That in particular is what is causing consternation across British politics now.

For me it was less about Epstein and more about wanting to be near the beau monde.

One must imagine that Epstein is not the only smoothie to figure out the lucrative trade in the nubile. Any of our illustrious journalists poking around on that story?

Frederick Roth's avatar

Should be easy enough... whole industries are basically shadow human trafficking schemes: modelling, pageant circuits (that's why Trump didn't need Jeff's services - since he had his own procurement infrastructure). That's just the sex side - pregnancy for hire is even more disturbing.

Still thinking Trump is lilly white; Dems haven't found a single thing in 10 years of digging. :)

Brilliant. What a mess he and all of his entourage were.

“An amazing ecosystem bootstrapped out of nothing more than Epstein’s charm and his amoral shamelessness.” not really, there is no real record of Epstein functioning as a financier on operations that would produce the wealth he had at his disposal.

High level finance is a small town and everyone knows everyone else, or knows somebody who does, and no one worked with Epstein on deals that would produce that level of wealth. This is stuff that just cannot be hidden, financial transaction rules being what they are.

The oft repeated claims that Epstein had major tie ins to the Intelligence agencies, which Mike Benz's has rather convincingly detailed, seem to be the only explanation, in that Epstein was effectively a deniable money mover / fixer for Intelligence agencies, especially the CIA but also MI6, DGSE and on occasion the Israelis, plus others. This afforded him significant income, a licence to operate and gave him complete top cover (DoJ etc.) to pursue his sex criminal hobbies. Which he could then share with his ever expanding international network of 'nonce curious' powerful vermin. The negligible first prison sentence he received illustrates this.

The remaining three million documents yet to be released will probably cover a great deal of this, plus his actually origin story: being launched into the world by Robert Maxwell who considered him sufficiently talented to effectively pimp his own daughter out to him. Non UK commentators tend to miss the Maxwell connection because you had to live in Britain when he was operating to get a handle on the utter amorality of the man and his political / legal reach.

So much more to come to light, none of it good but all affirming what we sense about the state of corruption throughout the west.

Have you read John leCarre's "The Mission Song?" It is more or less the ideal description of how large scale business deals in unstable regions are carried out - how do you make legally enforceable deals in circumstances where there is no rule of law, functioning governance and even between enemies?

By doing it exactly like Epstein's MO - comingling intelligence services with under-the-table money sources and leveraging personal trust networks. The secret to Epstein lies in the early years when he was a facilitator of weapons deals including Israeli & Iranian interests. That connects him to Maxwell snr even before Lady G came onto the scene.

High IQ is pure potential but as such can go in any direction. After the Bomb, the Final Solution, and various 5 Year Plans and Cultural Revolutions, etc. you'd think all those geniuses would've gotten the memo.

Frederick Roth's avatar

The trap of high IQ is a solipsistic belief in one's inerrancy. Especially once group think enters the dynamics.

“People who are brainy but have nothing else going for them—no sporting ability, few social skills, emotional brittleness—are an absolute menace.”

Living in Australia it is more a case of “people who have sporting ability but have nothing else going for them - no intelligence, few social skills and emotional oafishness- are an absolute menace”. (Oops, are outstanding role models for young people I meant to say).

Intelligence went extinct here some time in the 1970’s I think. (Apart from football coaches and lawyers of course)

The most telling thing about Epstein was not what I found in the "files" but listening to the guy talk for 30 secs (watching some interviews I've never seen before). The bloke sounds like an absolute bogan - the kind who would be playing some Sinefeldian bit character, not an elite financier.

BTW you left out the real Aussie bombshell - not Kev07 but Paul Keating's daughter who I've seen reported as a regular at the Manhattan big-house.

so a Catholic Priest, a Buddhist Monk and Jeffery Epstein walk into a bar.

All of these men are just pathetic and pitiful. If this is the world of Elite Human Capital, and it would be, count me out.

I bet there's many Australians in those files.

That's such a Ganesh take - My circle and myself are cool, everyone wants to be like us. The things we can't have, well actually, no-one wants them.
