Lorenzo has been a revelation and your hypothesis is true in my case, but I pretty much had to subscribe after reading "And I admit, these days, posting anything on Facebook makes me feel like I’m playing air guitar in a retirement home parking lot."
I have to admit that over the last few months I spent some time trying to track down what Lorenzo's cancelation crime actually was. Did he drop the "N-word" bomb on a marginalized and racialized minority? Did he attempt to explain to a feminist that psychological traits can be acted upon by natural selection? Now I know that I was Waaay off.
Fortunately Zoom is not too onerous for the IT challenged.
But even with high levels of commonality in web page layout, we can't get universal placement of the "Close", "X", or Logout" commands in the upper right; especially for ads they don't want you to close, so they put a white "X" on a white field background in the upper left of the "real" box, etc. Maybe that is their version of anti-cancelling?
Printed receipts are no better: why they can't all just print the date of the transaction in the upper right, or right below the supplier's name, is beyond me. Reprint the date in association with a time stamp lower down if you must, but the store name and date are what I need first if checking on a past purchase.
"Classical liberals care, for the most part, about economics. Conservatives—Lorenzo is one—often have a stronger interest in literature and the arts."
And yet, while reading Lorenzo in the 2011+ timeframe, I found his discussions of economics issues much clearer than some others on offer.
"On September 9th—at 12 noon BST—Lorenzo and I will do the first in a series of Zoom chats for paid subscribers only. " I understand this translates to 7am in US EDT time (and probably 10pm for Lorenzo?)
Does my recent subscription to Lorenzo's substack count for this? Should I plan on a separate subscription for Not On Your Team for this Zoom arrangement? And tip payments are separate from substack subscriptions, right?

If the technology permits it (please bear with us, we're messing up as fast as we can), Lorenzo will also send out an email with the link to his paid subscribers a couple of hours beforehand.
I'm sorry Lorenzo has been put through the wringer like that, and I'm glad to get to read his fabulous essays through this substack. Good luck with the inaugural Zooming. I can't join this one but hope to join one in the future.
I am sorry for Lorenzo but I just cannot understand his fascination with cancellation. Just get over it. There are really important issues and problems that deserve attention. I have been cancelled several times and while it is frustrating and hurtful, one can, one must, move on.
Lorenzo is brilliant. It’s absolutely why I am here. I’ve been thinking about and studying these issues for 20 years, and I’ve never read someone with as much insight connecting such a wide degree of informational sources.
I’ve slowly started to do the same after studying “liberal arts” in college, later law, then, after having children, evolutionary psychology & the heritability of characteristics. It’s hard to tie it all together, but Lorenzo seems to be the guy to do if.

Likewise, David. She bangs out quite a few ‘zingers,’ now doesn’t she.

Who is Lorenzo?
Why is there a picture of Bob Ellis?
Zoom? Sorry, too many red flags. Literally.

He absolutely is (and welcome to the happy crew).
